Frank 'Shorty' Burch

b. November 21, 1902
d. October 15 1998

Frank was born to Minnie Tubbs and Joseph Dolphus Burch in 1902 in Erin Springs, Oklahoma in what was still Indian Territory. The family moved to Langhorne, Pima County, Arizona sometime between 1910 and 1920; the 1920 US Census shows Frank with his father (no mother) and siblings George, Bessie and Bertha in Langhorne (now Cortaro). Sometime before 1910, Frank's father had put Frank's mother in the Oklahoma State Hospital in Norman, Oklahoma.

Frank was hoeing cotton one day and decided to run away from home. He hitchhiked to Sonoita, Arizona and found work as a cowboy at the Empire Ranch. He married Grace Mary Douglas in 1927. They had 7 kids between 1928 and 1943: Wanda, Norma, Joe, Bruce, Lila, Joanne and Frank Kimball. Frank was a Seabee in WWII.

Frank's father passed away in Casa Grande, Arizona in 1936. His mother Minnie was in the State Hospital until she passed away, possibly in 1952. Frank's wife Grace passed away in 1979. Frank remarried and moved to Washington State. He passed away in 1998.
