Alan Lee Eason

b. June 8, 1964
d. July 11, 1995

Alan was born June 8, 1964 at Coos Bay, Oregon; he died July 10, 1995 in Chula Vista, California, in his sleep from an asthma attack, survived by his parents, his wife, one sister, and two brothers. His family described him as a dedicated seaman, fisherman, and Oregon Coast sportsman. He received his Oregon Hunter Safety when he was 7 years old, and was an avid hunter, including bowhunting for big game elk.

At age 12, he left sixth grade at Coos River School to sail with his parents, Fred and Shirley Eason. Fred mastered big sailing on their 50 foot gaff-rigged ketch, visiting the Hawaiian Islands, French Polynesia, the Cook Islands, Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, and the Line Islands. In Hawaii, when he was 12, Alan became a certified diver, completing the course with a 120 foot dive to the sunken Navy submarine Lahaina. He also became an expert shell diver and collector. He returned with his parents to settle in San Diego where he got his high school diploma at age 16. A few years later, he returned to the Oregon Coast to take up the life of a fisherman in the Otter Trawl fleet. In his mid-twenties he established a gun dealer business in his home in North Bend, Oregon.

He married Cara Marie Hickey in Coos Bay in August, 1993. In the summer of 1994, he went back to San Diego to finish a course at the Academy of Nursing Assistants, and planned to return to Coos Bay to start a new career caring for the elderly.
