Ilene Maake Fraizer

Ilene was born to Martha Hesson & John Henry Maake. She was
the second oldest of 5 children and was raised on a farm in Nebraska.
Ilene was working in an aircraft factory during World War II, in
San Diego when she met Sam Fraizer who was stationed there while in the
Navy. They had a two week courtship and were married. Sam took his
new wife to his home in Sonoita, Arizona where they built a Texaco gas
station, garage and lunch room. Ilene ran the lunch room where the
people came to love her and her wonderful food. Her specialty was
her homemade pies. In the early 1950's she also drove the
school bus for the elementary school children of the area.

Ilene was active in the Santa Cruz County Cowbelles, Elgin Club, Sulphur Springs
Valley Electric Cooperative and of course being the wife of Sonoita's first Fire
Chief she was involved with the Fire Dept.

Ilene was preceded in death by her husband, parents, stepfather,
Wellie Hesson, her brother, Virgil Maake, and her sister Dona Mae Hesson.
She is survived by two children, two grandchildren and one brother & sister.
Memorial services were held at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds
Pioneer Hall
