Her family homesteaded Parker Canyon and in the Tombstone area in 1869. Betsy lived on the family ranch for 71 years. She loved all animals and critters, but hummingbirds and chickens were favorites. She had a special fondness for angels, Boyd's Bears and the color purple. While teaching, she always had small animals or a special critter to take to class for student appreciation and delight. She never married.
