F. Marion Hathaway McClellan

b. June 26, 1926 Nogales, Arizona
d. October 15, 2016 Phoenix, Arizona

Marion's parents were Jim and Virginia Parker Hathaway and she grew up with her sister Virginia Helen (Wilson) and brother Howard at the Mountain Place Ranch south of Canelo - now at the bottom of Parker Lake. She met her future husband, Gene McClellan, when they were both students at the University of Arizona. WWI began and disrupted their studies; Gene joined the Navy and served in the Pacific until the end of the war when he returned to the States. By then, Marion was living and working in San Francisco where she was in the Army Nursing Corp; she and Gene got married there. They moved to a ranch her parents had bought between Canelo and Parker Lake lived there for several years before moving to Phoenix where they lived for much of the rest of their lives.

Gene and Marion eventually divorced and remarried, but they stayed very good friends; he died before she did and she told her family she wanted to have him buried next to her with her name as McClellan on her stone.
