Jim and Marie moved to the ranch in 1976. He retired from Fort Huachuca in 1988 and became a full time rancher, spending most of his life doing what he loved to do: riding the range and raising cattle on the ranch. He was a member of the Southwestern Pioneer Cowboys Association, and was President of the Black Oak Cemetery Association until 2015.
