grandfather were in the cannery business. They owned a
small fleet of sailing vessels, which were used for bringing
produce and seafood products from the eastern shores
of Maryland and Virginia and as far away as the Bahamas back
to Maryland for canning.
mother Wag moved to Honesdale, PA where he attended high school
and met his future wife, Marie Gibbons.
He attended Drexel University and graduated with a degree in
Mechanical Engineering. He and Marie married in 1934 and lived
on a farm near Doylestown, PA raising four sons,
Wagner Jr., Richard, Glenn & John.
In 1949 he and Marie bought the Canelo Hills Ranch in Canelo, Arizona
In 1957 they sold the ranch and moved to Sonoita, Arizona,
where their fifth son, Tom, was born.
were deeply involved with community activities such as 4-H,
the Elgin School, the Santa Cruz County Fair & Rodeo Association,
the Elgin community Club and roundups for the 50 odd years they
lived there. Wag always kept a 'good old horse ' so he could lend a helping
hand where needed. Both he and Marie were always ready to help
anyone or at any event.
