Olive Douglas Stoddard


b. Oct. 18, 1910, Sonoita, Arizona
d. Aug. 4, 2002, Tucson, Arizona

Olive with her husband Emory, taken on their wedding day.

Olive's father & mother, Irvin Douglas & Maud Jacobs, homestead
thier ranch in Sonoita and Olive was born there. Times were hard
and they moved thier family to Nevada sometime during WWI.
While they were in Nevada Olive's mother died tragically.

The family returned to the Sonoita area where Olive and her brothers
and sister lived with their aunt and uncle, Grace and Alonzo Lowe.

Olive attended school in Patagonia, Arizona

Olive had an undying love of the land and of nature.

When Olive & Emory married they returned to the homestead and raised
their 7 children: Herald, Rodney, June, Alice, Verna, Nolan & Arthur
Herald & Nolan preceded her in death

The marker was designed and made by her son-in-law Sean Dougherty
in honor of her love of the Santa Ritas; the top is the silhouette
of those mountains. She had a wonderful view of them from her home.
