Alvessa Ochoa Hummel

b. October 23, 1910 in Patagonia, Arizona
d. January 6, 1982 in Tucson, Arizona

Her parents were Ramon Ochoa & Felipa Moreno.
There were 5 children in their family: Thresa, Ramona
Bonofacio 'Pacho", Alvessa and Rita.

Alvessa was a musician who could play many instruments,
The main one the saxophone. She and her brother started
a dance band about 1927. She had many bands after her
brother passed away in 1945.

After Alvessa graduated from high school she went to college in
California. She returned to Arizona, and continued with her
music. She played for the local dances throughout the county.

Alvessa met Gene Hummel, a rancher from Sonoita, Arizona, and
they married and had 1 child, Linda. Alvessa lived on the ranch until
her death.

She had many accomplishments, and was also
a very good artist. She taught Spanish at a private school
'The Little Outfit' in San Rafael Valley. She did secretarial work
at Fort Huachuca. She served on the Empire School Board for many
years, volunteered in the schools.
But her main love was music!

Alvessa was cremated and her ashes are scattered over
the Hummel Ranch in Sonoita. She has a memorial
head stone at Black Oak Cemetery.
