Alvessa Ochoa Hummel

A person gifted with the ability to play
any musical instrument with out reading music.
Her soul mate was her saxophone, and
how she could make it cry!
At the age of 17 she started playing for dances, with her
brother, 'Paucho', in their hometown of Patagonia, AZ
and she did not stop playing until her death in 1982!
She is missed, and her music is missed!

Ochoa Genealogy

Information on the name Ochoa was given to me by Jim Ochoa

The name Ochoa is Basque in origin.
The name derives from the Basque Otsoa meaning 'the wolf'.

This is the family of Franciso Ochoa & Maria Jesus Gastelum.

Francisco was the son of Ramon Ochoa & of Ysabel Valenzeula.
Maria Jesus was born in May of 1850 in La Sienega, Hermosilla,
Sonora, Mexico to Balbino Gastelum and Maria Ygnacia Salazar
Jesus died Jan.4, 1931 in Superior, AZ
and is buried there next to her only daughter.
It is not known where Francisco died or is buried

According to the 1900 census, Jesus, was living with her
oldest son, Rafael, and his family in Congress, Arizona
My assumption is that Francisco had passed away before then

Their children were all born in Mexico, some of the sons
came to Arizona before their mother. According to the 1900 census
the sons were all miners.
