The name Hummel means Bumblebee in German
This is the story of the Hummel's that came
I found a Hummel relative in Germany (through the Internet!)
to America from, Hoheneck, Wurttenburg, Germany
in the middle 1800's.
Some are known to have lived and died in Cincinnati, Ohio.
I knew very little of the story of the family
My great grandfather, Christian Hummel, came over in 1854
and 3 years later settled in Cincinnati, Ohio. He worked in the
distillary business for 32 years in the area
His wife, Louisa Goetz, came from Hessen-Darmstadt to
Cincinnati in 1857.
that gave me some history of the family.
There were a total of 11 children, 8 of them came to
America over a series of years. Even their mother
came over after their father passed away. I have found
some information on 4 of the 8 in my search.
